What is a Dental Implant?

The dental implant is a small titanium post that acts as an replacement for the root portion of your missing tooth. Implants can be placed in either lower or upper jaws, and are made from biocompatible metal capable of fusing with bone tissue over time in a process called osseointegration.

While they do vary, dental implants are typically composed of three main elements:

  • Titanium post: The dental implant post is the first part of the implant placed into your mouth. It requires a minor surgical procedures to place. Your dentist or oral surgeon will make an incision in the gum line. Next, the jaw bone is prepared with a special dental drill. The post is then inserted into the prepared area, and the gums are sutured around it.
  • Dental crown: Our crowns arowns are made of long-lasting porcelain that is not only incredibly durable and lifelike. The crown is shaped and colored to blend in with your natural smile for a seamless restoration.
  • Abutment: The abutment is the connective device that attaches the implant post to the replacement tooth. Once the abutment is secured to the top of the post, your dentist will place the crown.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants are the most popular tooth loss treatment in the world, and for good reason! Implants offer a wide range of benefits compared to other tooth replacement options, including:

  • Long-lasting smiles: An implant can last 20 years or more with good at-home care and regular dental checkups. While you may eventually need to replace the artificial tooth attached to your implant, the implant itself can last a lifetime.
  • Dependable results:Thanks to advancements in modern dental techniques and technology, the dental implants are an incredibly reliable treatment option, with a success rate of more than 95%.
  • Natural function:Dental implants are a stable tooth replacement option. They look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth.
